ABOUT US

Philippine National Bank’s presence in the UK underwent many changes over the years before finally evolving into the entity it is today. PNB opened its London Representative Office in 1968 as a way of expanding its international services and facilities. Eight year later, on 2 January 1976, the office was converted into a branch through an interim authority to operate which was issued by the Bank of England.
Seeing its business grow in the 80’s and 90’s, PNB London applied for authorisation to operate as a UK-incorporated bank in order to capitalise on opportunities opened up by the European Economic Community. The authorisation was granted in July 1977 and the new subsidiary Philippine National Bank (Europe) Plc, commenced trading on 1 September of the same year. Aside from foreign exchange remittance services, the bank then offered a fuller range of banking services including savings deposits, personal and business loans, letters of credit, equipment leasing and traveller’s cheques.
On 1 October 1977, PNB (Europe) Plc opened an extension office at Notting Hill Gate to serve the Filipino community in the West End seven days a week. Currently, there are plans to open more extension offices in the London area. With the introduction of the Euro, plans are now also being made for the bank to extend its reach into continental Europe.
PNB (Europe) Plc continues on the road of expansion and growth following its Head Office’s relocation to brand-new air-conditioned premises in the City in September 1998. The new site, located at the ground floor of Old Change House at 128 Queen Victoria Street, boasts of spacious modern offices with the state-of-the-art computer and communication facilities, and a banking hall to rival those of high street banks. The new location is just a block away from St. Pauls Cathedral and across the street from the Millennium Bridge. Nearest underground stations are St. Paul’s on the Central Line and Mansion House on the District and Circle Lines. It is also accessible by bus throughout the years have been inspired by the Filipino community’s increasing demands for faster, more efficient and professional financial services. At present, the bank has a personnel strength of 24 highly-trained staff with an open policy to develop staff capacity according to its requirements. It is with confidence that PNB (Europe) Plc has entered the new millennium, ready to face the challenges that come with it.
